Who We Are
EmpowerMED Africa is a Texas-based nonprofit organization organized under Section 501(c)(3), committed to strengthening healthcare systems across sub-Saharan Africa through education, training, research, and strategic partnerships.
We believe that sustainable healthcare transformation begins locally. When communities are equipped with knowledge, skills, and leadership opportunities, they build solutions that endure.
Our work centers on empowering healthcare professionals, institutions, and future leaders to meet patient needs with excellence, integrity, and innovation.

Our Mission
To empower local communities in sub-Saharan Africa to meet patient needs through education, training, and research; to forge meaningful partnerships with individuals and institutions; to increase healthcare human resource capacity; and to nurture future leaders in medical care.

What We Do
Education & Training
We support the development of healthcare professionals by facilitating:
- Clinical and non-clinical training programs
- Continuing professional development initiatives
- Mentorship networks
- Skills-based workshops for healthcare workers
Research & Innovation
We promote locally relevant research that informs practice and policy. Our research focus includes:
- Community health needs assessments

Workforce Capacity Building
Strong systems require strong teams. We work to increase healthcare human resource capacity by:

Future Leaders Initiative
We invest in students and trainees who represent the next generation of healthcare leadership. Through mentorship, exposure opportunities, structured engagement and the EmpowerMED Africa Scholarship, we help build a pipeline of professionals equipped to lead with skill and integrity.

We are governed by a Board of Directors and operate in accordance with our bylaws and governance policies, including conflict of interest and non-discrimination standards.
